Be it global warming, ozone layer depletion or climate change, currently, they all are the biggest threats to the human beings. Though the greenhouse gases are very much required to keep the temperature of the Earth balanced but it is the excess nature of these gases that is causing our planet temperature to rise.
What are the effects of Global Warming?
Global Warming effects on macro as well as micro level. For instance,
Effects on weather: Global Warming has increased the frequency and intensity of extreme weather conditions. For example, extreme rainfall with a heavy downpour, longer dry periods between rains, etc.
Sea Levels: Sea and ocean levels are on a rise because global warming is leading the icebergs and snow of Antartica and Greenland to melt and flow in water bodies.
People: Due to an increase in sea and ocean level, people are now more prone to natural calamities like flood.
The link between Global Warming and Cancer
Along with affecting people with various health complications, Global Warming may also contribute in an increased risk of Skin Cancer. Ozone Layer depletion allows more Ultraviolet Rays or UV rays to enter into the atmosphere and bring people closer to Skin Cancer.
What should be done?
- The first and foremost precautionary measure is to involve in activities that could curb Global Warming and spread awareness about the same.
- To keep skin cancer away, rub sunscreen lotion before moving out in the Sun. Also, wear sunglasses, hat, body cover to keep shield body against UV rays.
- Check for skin cancer symptoms such as pigment, redness, and itching, bleeding from existing moles, etc.
- Apply ABCD rule of checking any unusual mole on the skin.
- Check your skin regularly for any uncommon sign and consult an expert in such a case.
