Studies show that the genetics of cancer may lead to the belief that some are fated for the disease, but that’s not necessarily true. Healthy behaviours are known to prevent about half of the deaths due to cancer. Here are few Do’s and Don'ts by Cancer Healer Center that can improve your odds.
Don'ts
1. Don’t rely on pills for nutrition - Lung cancer treatment specialists say that supplements should be taken along with good food but not instead of good food.
2. Don’t smoke - Smoking leads to a list of cancers such as lungs, mouth, throat, pancreas, etc. It is the main cause of premature and preventable deaths.
3. Limit your alcohol intake - Oral cancer is 6 times more common in alcoholics than in people who do not drink. Research suggests that no more than 2 drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women.
4. Protect your skin from the sun - The UV rays damage the skin’s DNA and causes genetic mutations that leads to skin cancer. Apply sunscreen every time you go outside or keep yourself covered with a broad hat and sunglasses.
5. Avoid the intake of sugary foods - A burst of refined sugar on an empty stomach triggers a flood of insulin suppressing the immune system and feeding any abnormal cells in everyone’s body.
Dos
1. Get screened regularly - You should go for regular screening tests. They can detect cancers of the prostate, breast, colon and skin. Even if you have no symptoms, finding cancer early increases the chances of cure and best cancer treatment. Screening tests include blood tests, physical exams, imaging and genetic tests.
2. Eat healthy everyday - Eat nutrients in your everyday food. One can eat yogurt, deep orange vegetables, citrus fruits and green vegetables. The deeper the color of the fruit, the more the nutrients.
3. Be physically active - Research shows that active people have lower risk of developing colon and breast cancers than people who don’t exercise. Activities such as biking, brisk walking, dancing or any exercise raises your heart rate proving to be a positive step for your lung cancer treatment.
4. Keep a check on your weight - Keep your weight in the normal range for your height. This means keeping a BMI of 25 or less. Increase in BMI are linked to gallbladder, renal, thyroid and colon cancers.
5. Take proper medication - After consulting the doctors, consider taking medications to reduce the cancer risk via the best cancer treatment. There are many medications that are tested and found effective for reducing the risk for cancer.
