Once the cancer is diagnosed the patient and his family member needs to ponder about the treatment options. But the following points should be considered before undergoing any treatment.
1.Second Opinion: If a physician has diagnosed the cancer, it is better to take a second opinion from a cancer specialist.
2. Prognosis: It is a cancer specialist estimate of how the cancer will respond to treatment and what the life expectancy would be. The early the prognosis is done the better it is.
3.Cost and Insurance Factor: Depending on the stage of cancer the cost mat vary. Therefore, it is recommended to take into account the cost and insurance factor before choosing best cancer hospital.
4.Travel: In case if the hospital lies in another city or country then planning for travel is also required from the cancer patient and his/her family.
5.Clinical Trials: Few cancer hospitals and oncologist find some newly diagnosed cancer patients eligible for clinical trials. These trials helps in testing new drugs and treatment. The one with cancer can decide whether or not he/she wants to undergo these trials.
