Nourishment Do's and Don'ts of Cancer

While we are affected with any disorder or disease we mostly mingle the nourishment do’s with the don’ts (and vice versa) of that particular disease or disorder.  But when it comes to cancer, interlacing the do’s and don’ts could further worsen the situation. Following are the basic nutritional do’s and don’ts of cancer which are very much essential for a person with cancer.

 

Do’s

1. Limit sugary food especially in the morning during breakfast.  Though sugary foods are mostly with lots of calories but less of nutritional value.

 

2. Have leafy vegetables in form of salad. Take it during the last meal of the day i.e. Dinner.

 

3. Increase your intake of carrot and dry fruits.

 

4. Increase the intake of protein rich food as it is very much essential for the growth of tissues and stabilization of immune system.

 

5. Go for lean meat and fish rather than red or processed meat.

 

6. Try to be regular with nuts, beans, cooked cereals and puddings for they are nutrient rich foods. 

 

7. Make a habit of eatingyogurt, ice cream and eggs as they are high in calorie food items.

 

8. Make your meal plate appealing by garnishing it with parsley, cherry tomatoes, and lemon slices.

 

9. Try to shift to organic fruits and vegetables. As it won’t pressurize your body to process more chemicals.

Don’ts

1. Avoid unpasteurized and foods that are undercooked. For Instance raw fish and meat.

 

2. Don’t depend completely on medication for nutrition.

 

3. Don’t stay dehydrated for a long time. Keep drinking water or pasteurized juice after a specified time to keep yourself hydrated.

 

4. Don’t consume daily food items fried in soya bean oil and corn oil.

 

5. Don’t stay hungry too for a long time. Divide your meals and eat after a regular interval.

 

6. Do not eat raw vegetable sprouts such as mung bean.

 

7. Try white bread rather than eating whole-grain bread.

 

8. Leave potato chips while the treatment is on. You can rather snack on Popcorn.

 

9. Don’t consume cream filling sweets such as pastry.

 

10. Don’t eat raw honey. Substitute it with heat-treated honey.
