5 Things You Shouldn't Do After Consuming a Meal

5 Things You Shouldn't Do After Consuming a Meal

It is said that an individual should have a heavy but healthy breakfast followed by not so heavy lunch and very light dinner. Most of us overlook this golden piece of advice. Apart from breaking this rule, we tend to involve in activities which shouldn't be undertaken after the meal.
Mentioned below are five activities that we should avoid after consuming a meal.
1) Sleeping: A majority of people have the habit of sleeping after taking the food especially in the day time. When we lie down after a meal, some of the digestive juices from the stomach flow back to the esophagus because of gravitational force. Because of the presence of acids in digestive juices, it can burn the inner layer of the esophagus. Also, make a habit of taking dinner 2 to 3 hours prior to going to sleep.

2) Bathing: Taking a bath after having lunch or dinner delays in digestion for the blood flows to the other parts of the body.

3) No Tea: Tea leaves are acidic and affect the digestion process. The acidic content hardens the protein content of the meal and makes it difficult to digest. Avoid tea one hour before and after the meal.

4) Cold Water: Drinking ice water causes clumping of food and does not let it digest properly. However, warm or hot water helps absorb nutrients better.

5) Dancing: Dancing in excess after eating makes it tough to absorb the nutrients in the intestine. Rather, a walk for 15-20 minutes is recommended after having a meal.
