If you or your loved ones are recently diagnosed with cancer, then following these steps could make a big difference in your cancer journey.
1. Don’t Panic: Though it is easier said than done but with stress you are just making the condition worse. So collect all your senses and prepare yourself for the journey.
2. Know the exact Stage: Knowing the exact stage of the cancer from an oncologist as it helps a lot in deciding the treatment options.
3. Clarify all your doubts: Whether they are treatment related queries or diet related concerns, make sure that you clarify all your doubts from the doctor. People hesitate to ask certain questions, for instance, questions related to sexual health in cancer. Thus, it is advised to clarify all your queries and doubts.
4. Decide on the treatment option: Though there are available various radiation therapies but all of them come with side effects. With advancement in the medical field, a painless and no side effects therapy called Immunotherapy has been developed that cures cancer even in its last stage.
5. Go through the Pros and Cons of the treatment option: Just because a treatment option is cheap, don’t rush to finalize it. Make sure to understand the benefits and disadvantages of every treatment option.
6. Look for clinical trials: Even a clinical trial can be explored at the time of diagnosis and it may be a possible treatment option early on.
7. Do have a friend or family member beside you: Whether you go for a regular check-up or decide to pass an evening at your place, make sure that you don’t do it in isolation. Always have someone with you for an emotional and moral support. Be Social.
8. Don’t lose Hope: Cancer is a crippling disease, psychologically, emotionally and physically. Lots of people are diagnosed with it every year and unfortunately, many lose their lives not only due to improper treatment but also because they lose hope in between. Thus, it is very much essential that the cancer patient keeps his hopes high because HOPE is another way of saying “Hold On. Pain Ends.”
