Blood cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally. Early detection offers an increased opportunity for treatment and curative intent. While there are several remaining and emerging questions related to blood cancer detection, the value of early detection and treatment stays as a valuable and established fact. Several treatment options have also emerged for blood cancer over the years which have revealed the strong reductions in cancer mortality rates.
Cancer screening is the usage of medical techniques and tests to detect cancer early in people who have either not shown or are showing symptoms of a disease. The main aim of screenings by cancer care centers is to lower ailments and death rates due to cancer. This is considered to be an extremely effective method widely accepted and beneficial to people who have the symptoms or risk of cancer. And don’t forget, patients whose cancer is detected at an early stage have a higher chance of cured disease, full recovery, and a better quality of life.
Detecting blood cancer can be complicated, as symptoms, such as back pain or tiredness, are often misdiagnosed as these symptoms can be associated with other disease conditions which are in no way related to cancer. Delay in blood cancer diagnosis can have a huge impact on the quality of a patient’s life and overall outcome. Diagnosing blood cancer in early stages is not the only challenge - with around 100 types of blood cancer, delivering an accurate diagnosis is also important. But an early diagnosis is expected to make a difference for many blood cancer patients. The doctors recommend people with signs and symptoms should undertake a simple blood test for people presenting with one or more blood cancer symptoms. Even a slight abnormality in the blood report can be a cause of cancer and can help the doctor in advising the patient for advanced investigations.
However, cancer is a frightening idea for most of the people but today with the advancements in technology and science, many forms and types of cancer are fully treatable. Research has shown that the death rate of the cancer patients has lowered due to the advancements in the cancer treatment methods and technology. However, raising awareness of the blood cancer also has an important role to play in improving the many aspects of a patient journey and continues to be a priority for the blood cancer treatment.
