Throat Cancer refers to the cancerous tumours which develop in the throat, voice box or tonsils. Your throat is a muscular tube which starts behind the nose and ends in the neck. It most often begins in the flat cells that line inside of the throat.

Your voice box sits just below the throat and is susceptible to throat cancer. The voice box is made of cartilage and contains the vocal cord which vibrates to make sound when you talk.

Throat cancer can affect the pieces of cartilage which act as a lid for your windpipe.
